THE MAC COLLECTIVE was born out of Bret “Mac” McIntosh’s dream of writing rock songs. Mac has found comfort and joy in the sounds of rock music since his youth in the 60’s. Over the years, while being a long-time listener and now nighttime DJ of Sacramento’s K-Zap, collector of albums, attender of many a rock concert, and an amateur player of guitar, Mac wrote a few of his own songs. Now, as a retired dude still living in his native Northern California, Mac decided to expand on his songs and hire a producer and now close friend, Phillip Howard, to help him get them out of his head and recorded. Over the past four years, Mac’s quest of bringing his melodies to life has led him to working with many talented, hard-working musicians that now form THE MAC COLLECTIVE, including members such as Liam, Andy, John, and Leeloo. Mac and the Collective find inspiration in the classic rock sounds of the 70’s and 80’s, but love exploring ways to bring new energy to the genre. Whatever outward success the Collective has, Mac is thrilled to have fully formed songs that people can hear and enjoy.
